Transform your dining room this autumn

Now the children are back at school, it's the perfect time to embark on a decoration project around your home.
Even if the kids being out all day means you'll be back at work, you'll still have them under your feet far less than you did during the school holidays - and they won't need entertaining all the time!
If you love the idea of throwing a dinner party for your friends and family, the best place to begin your home improvement project is in the dining room.
Usually, the main focus in the room, unsurprisingly, is the dining table. You should be trying to find one that really makes an impression in the room. One in dark oak or mahogany has the potential to exude class and glamour, so those could be great woods to look for one in.
You'll obviously need to decide on the décor in your dining room before you put the table in place though, so that should be high up on your to-do list.
First of all, think of the colour scheme you want for the space. If you're trying to get the room to exude grandeur, you might want to go for opulent and regal hues, such as dark red with hints of gold on borders around the room.
If you're planning to use the dining room for entertaining purposes, a great decorating idea could be to go for a neutral hue throughout then add a personal touch to it. You could adorn the walls with photos of friends and family so they have a really warm welcome whenever they come to visit.
However you choose to decorate the room, you'll find it an extremely rewarding thing to do if you plan to start hosting dinner parties more often. As well as making suitable 'oohs' and 'ahs' at your food, your guests are bound to love your interior design ideas too.
