Enhancing a room with a mirror

Mirrors are often used in homes for a variety of purposes beyond their original intention. This makes them great value for money and wonderful additions to any room.
The most obvious reason for including a mirror is for making sure you look your best. A small standing mirror is perfect for placing on a dressing table, as it won't take up much room, yet is ideal for little details such as applying make-up and arranging hair. Full-length mirrors can also be bought freestanding or to be attached to a wall. These larger varieties are long and thin and so reflect your entire body, making them essential for fashion lovers and those who want to ensure that their outfit always works.
In recent years mirrors have begun to be used for alternative purposes. The most common of these is to bring the illusion of light and space into rooms. This trick works perfectly in thin, dark corridors, where mirrors catch the available light and seemingly double the space making your home immediately more welcoming - while of course giving you a spot for a last minute fashion check before you leave the house!
They are also great for more decorative purposes, especially above fireplaces and in dining rooms, where they still give the effect of more space and create an ornamental feature on the wall next to pictures and photographs.
Due to this, mirrors are available in a multitude of eye catching styles. Some have intricately detailed frames, while others have simple straight edges for a more minimalist look. Whatever your taste, be sure to purchase high quality reflective glass that retains a flat and bright surface. This will make a massive difference once hung or stood in your home. Simply then take your time to choose a great spot for your new mirror and see how it is enhances your room.
